Even to say it was his peak at rap for Mac is kind of a stretch just because he still had crazy bars (Inertia, Buttons, Jet Fuel, Programs). GO:OD AM is his best rap/hip hop album IMO but it for sure wasn’t the peak for Mac. With Faces he started feeling himself and the music that he was creating even more than before. In my opinion Mac entered his prime with Faces and never left after that was released. GO:OD AM was just part of the beginning of Mac’s ascension into greatness. While that stage of his life was unfortunately short lived, I think that was the happiest stage in Mac's life. Look at where he was in life, he was more successful in music sales than he ever was, had a relationship with Ariana, and was finally sober for a while. I loved this album as well, probably not as much as Mac. Now if we're talking Mac's peak in his personal life, I think it's undeniable, The Divine Feminine. 9/10 album imo, tied for my favorite with Faces. But it also has slower songs with some of the finest instrumentals I've heard, like Doors, Weekend, and the surreal, Perfect Circle/Godspeed. Upbeat, elaborate songs like Brand Name, Two Matches, 100 Grandkids, Clubhouse. If we're talking his public peak, yeah.GO:OD AM for sure. That's the music he enjoyed making at first, but it wasn't the music he WANTED to make. We loved Kids, and BDE, but that frat-rap kind of music wasn't Mac's sound. It's not my favorite album, but he said it himself near its release, he finally found his sound. If we're talking Mac's music peak, I'm saying Swimming. His personal peak when he was happiest in life? I'll answer all 3 while I'm at it.
